Wikimania 2007 Taipei :: a Globe in Accord

Hi, Allentchang, thank you for your message. Yes, the customs regulations should better be moved to Travel and visa information, and in Local information we can just leave a link referring to that section. Thanks for the suggestion. As we are both Wikipedians and both team members for Wikimania 2007, please feel free to edit and expand/improve those pages. Best wishes and regards, --roc (talk) 21:15, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding new format of Local Information

Hi, According to User:Theodoranian, I re-design the Local Information and split some of theminto About Taipei page. Theo asked me to contact you to work with you to have more information for these two areas. Please visit this page User:Cobrachen/第一生產線/修改區 for the new format and the information I transferred from the current one. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or questions regarding formatting. Looks like you have great ideas regarding the contents of both sections. Thank you very much for your help.--Cobrachen 02:14, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TKS

You speak Chinese, right? I'm gonna type Chinese...

Tsungyenlee 15:00, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the typal mistake......I've already corrected it.....It's true that I have near-sightedness:) However, I faced a problem..I don't know whether I should upload by using a new name? Or I can use the original.....I have already updated with a new name of the flie. So please help me delete the old one if needed coz I don't know how...Thanks again!!Tsungyenlee 15:44, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
BTY, Thanks for the encouragement. My mid-term has just finished, so I have more time now. Don't worry......I'd try my best......Though I have already lost my enthusiasm since last July......when the BCTest was over......Tsungyenlee 15:50, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I know I have to use the old name, but I don't know how......Please teach me if you have time......By the way, I have a question about the image of Taipei Main...Do you mean map of the ground? How about the underground part?? Or perhaps I can help make two - one for the groung transportations and the other for the underground......However, I think I might need your help. I am more familiar with the MRT Sta. section...I am not really sure about the railway and THSR sta. area, though I have already been there and had a short observation. However, I still hope to have your advice like what I/we should put on. Tsungyenlee 07:59, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Um..Well,I have already know how to upload a newer version, so dont bother telling me...It seems to be the reason that I haven't have my account ordered for more than 4 days....so I couldn't upload the newer file..

Re: Primate city

Why don't we just simply say that Taipei is Taiwan's primate city rather than to say it is the culutral, political, economic, etc. etc. center of Taipei?

How about because it's not? You sound like one of those New Yorkers going on about how it's the only city worth living in (and I'm living in New York right now and I can tell you it's not). Taichung has plenty of culture, great schools, sports, much better weather. Kaohsiung has a real international airport, rapid transit on the way, and is a first class city in its own right and a major political force. That's not to neglect all the other great cities and towns in Taiwan, from Changhua to Taitung to Pingtung to Beautiful Hualien to Hsingchu to Puli and Jiji, and the islands of Lanyu, Jinmen and Matsu. You could spend years in Taiwan without visiting Taipei and not miss it (I have).

Granted, Taipei is what it is, but it's not everything. en:User:NTK 66.234.50.204

You are misreading my mind. To tell you the truth, I wish more resources were dedicated to other parts of Taiwan as well, especially having personally witnessed how the Taipei Municipal Government has wasted too much money on stuff such as a citizen's fingerprint database as well as the new bus shelter and the Zhongxiao exclusive bus lane project. I wish the Wikipedia would stop repeating reference books from China and elsewhere that keep on babbling that Taipei is the "political, economic, and cultural center of Taiwan." Saying that Taipei is the political center of Taiwan is redundant because Taipei is the capital. Saying that "Taipei is the primate city of Taiwan" is more accurate because it points out that the central government needs to work harder in giving more tax money to the regions outside of Taipei. The term primate city has a negative connotation because it indicates uneven national and regional development. And of course we all know that the term "Chinese Taipei" is ludicrous and shows international and PRC ignorance of what Taiwan really is. Allentchang 14:36, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it's such serious. Maybe it's becuase of my poor English, however, I do think that they share the same meaing(primate and culutral, political, economic, etc. etc) It is true that Taipei is now the largest city or metropolis. But saying so doesn't mean that we neglect the others. We still know that Taichung, Kaohsiung...... have many other benifits.Tsungyenlee 08:21, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Thanks for writing the local information

Hi, Allent, I am Theodoranian. Thank you very much for your writing "Local Information" and other meaningful contents here. Last week I assigned Cobrachen to be the website coordinator, and I assigned another Wikipedian MagicDesigner(User:Shoichi) to help Cobra this Thursday. I also noticed that you have made a friend with Tsunyenlee. You two work really hard.

As for the local information and local transportation (and maybe About Taipei)parts, I hope you and Tsunyenlee to help Cobra to set up a schedule to finish (including adding pictures, making the page more beautiful....). Then we can notify the translation team to translate them. :) --Theodoranian 17:03, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Completed the correction

Thanks for the suggestions!I have already corrected those parts. Please help me check it again if you don't mind...I am quite careless, you know...... But I don't really understand about the "MRT entrance near the Zhongshan Metro Mall". I did add a note. Is that what you meant? Just tell me if that isn't right. I'm just afriad if I did a bad job...However, thanks again!

I want to say that I'm also willing to help create the same pics in other language maybe Japanese IF needed. I did have a terrible experience in Tokyo that none of my family can read any Katakana or Hiragana while travelling around. And I can hardly find one speaking English, even as poor as I. So I can appreciate how hard for one to travel in a foreign country. If I need to do it, I might need the translated characters and time... I have to figure out how to type Japanese in PhotoImpact, which I use to create the picture...Tsungyenlee 13:43, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I will fix it tomorrow~~:)
PS. I didn't get you....about the last paragraph. I dont understand......Tsungyenlee 15:22, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've uploaded the renewed one...Thanks again!:) Actually, I feel sorry cuase there were such many mistakes....Despite my poor English ability, I felt a little sleepy then~ Well, I guess you meant we can get together one day and have a discussion..Did you mean that? If so, then... I think my parents wouldn't let me go, and I myself is afraid of meeting a person along I have never seen before. Or maybe we can arrange a time and discuss through the Net by whether Yahoo Massenger or MSN or whatever chat room. Hope you can understand my poor Eng...Tsungyenlee 13:48, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I forgot to tell you..I didnt put "Kou-kuang" on the first pic cause I thought I used the symbol. But maybe you're right. It's more clear...And about the Gate and Gates, this is my own question abut EN, is that because "Gate" can be seen as a collective noun so we don't need to add "s" behind even though there are three gates? Thanks.Tsungyenlee 14:00, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New Local Infromation Format

Thanks for your reply. Would you like to move the new format to replace the current one then update info, or update then move? I will work with your schedule and needs. Thank you very much.--Cobrachen 15:44, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK

How about you separate the sections? We can put it in the local information page too.--Theodoranian 13:33, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Local Information and About taipei schedule

Hi, Theodoranian suggested us to finish the majority of both section at the end of this weekend. Please let me know what you need and I will work with you and others to finishe them. Thank you very much.--Cobrachen 01:49, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So do I

請不用擔心,我有注意到您的母語是英文了。其實,我也非常享受閱讀英文,可以增進我自身的能力。我的英文大部份都是網上學來的,我也很珍惜有這個機會可以進步,謝謝!Tsungyenlee 14:04, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ice of Yongkan

我看到了你在的theodorian的留言了。剛剛看了一下資料,您指的是冰宮嗎?或者是清宮御廚冰品?這是我找到的資料。Tsungyenlee 08:10, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, please use template:status

Hi, Allent, please use template:status to present the completeness of pages, then people who do things together can easily know which parts need enhancement. I just set the Local information pages status as . (See Local information.) I know some of them are almost complete, so you can adjust them to 50, 75, or even 100 (100 means everything has been done, including pictures, typo...). Thank you very much. --Theodoranian 09:26, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Deadlines

Hi, thanks for your reply. Please go ahead add all information to all sections and I will help you to edit the format and other things. Thanks.--Cobrachen 12:16, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added this page for general conversaion Local_information 12: General Conversation. Please feel free to expand it. Thank you very much.--Cobrachen 02:39, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About the selection of information

Hi, Allent, I hope you can understand that our website is for the official use of Wikimania 2007. Therefore, it is necessary to select appropriate amount of information for the attendees. Especially every information page will be translated by our translation team. I don't want to see the translation work is too heavy to do, so please leave some external information just an external link, such as the list of Embassies. At the same time, if we provide too much information, there will be problems of responsibilities, though we have a general disclaimer about the correctness. This is what I think, and I hope it doesn't discourage you. Thanks for your hard working.--Theodoranian 02:49, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

from airport to venue

hi Allen, I was called to 大有巴士 yesterday and make sure that they have a bus stop closed to 圓山捷運站[1]. I think that Airport--圓山 station--劍潭Station is more easier than go to Taipei main station first and transfer to MRT 淡水 line. Please see To venue.--KaurJmeb 15:13, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: [編輯] pdf version of location information

Thank you very much.--Cobrachen 03:45, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
