Experience Sharing/Eclecticology
The one thing that will be most memorable about both Wikimanias will the opportunity to have met and talked with so many that have a common interest. The patio in Frankfort was indeed a natural magnet for promoting this, and that set an important tone for future conferences. The Harvard site was not as conducive to this, but participants were still able to find an outside corner where they could make this happen. When a group of 18 goes out for dinner in Frankfurt, we find that we represent 12 different countries. After the conference on our last day a small group of us set out for a little walking tourism in downtown Boston. After a couple blocks we sat down for a leisurely lunch during which the restaurant staff tied a helium balloon to Brion Vibber's pony tail. When that was over we only walked a very few more blocks before we went into a gelateria where we continued talking for a couple more hours. It didn't matter that we were in one of the United States' most historically rich cities. Eclecticology 05:08, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
