Wikimania 2007 Taipei :: a Globe in Accord

Hello

Why do you mention a logo contest ? Is it to change the Wikimania logo ? I would have thought we would keep last year logo as a logo has to become known graphically. Anthere 08:48, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Anthere, there's a copy what phoebe said in an email at 23:40(UTC+8) 2006/9/30 Title: Re: [Foundation-l] Taipei chosen to host Wikimania 2007

FYI, that lovely logo was designed by Ben Yates (tlogmer) for Wikimania
2006, and the red and blue colors were chosen for 2006 out of a whole
spectrum of possibilities. AFAIK there's not been talk of making it "the
official logo" for future Wikimanias, though there's no reason why it
couldn't be -- it seemed to print and scale quite well, and I heard quite a
bit of unsolicited praise for it :)
best,
phoebe

IMHO, this Logo is not bad. If the Foundation think this as the official Logo for Wikimania in the future, instead of a specific logo per year, we will discuss in the preparation meeting giving up the logo contest idea. Thanks for your opinion. --Theodoranian 12:51, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, this logo could be used as a base – that is, its shape stays the same, but the colours change each year, according to the Team's preferences (see for example the proposed logo for Torino 2007). Jon Harald Søby 21:08, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Or do as google do on special occasions, they keep the main idea of their logo but modify it. Here we coul do so, modifying it to keep the main idea and keep recognisable but with a modification that make the Taiwan's logo different of the wikimania 2008's but still easily recognisable as a wikimania logo. So when peoples see the different logos they can say on the first sight "it's wikimania" logo. I hope it's understandable ^^ Schiste 07:42, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, your opinions are very precious, and we will talk about it.--Theodoranian 08:30, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
